ABOUT

mugshot Anthony Chu

Anthony Chu is an innovation leader and design technologist working at the intersection of computation, materials, and additive manufacturing. As Director of Product at OPT Industries, he has led the design and commercialization of more than twenty products across beauty, medical, and luxury manufacturing — from a 15-million-unit cosmetic eyelashes to high jewelry to the InstaSwab COVID-19 nasal swab — supported by eight granted and pending patents. He leads a small product team and has, alongside the design work, scaled OPT's manufacturing floor from six machines to fourteen.

His work is shaped by an architectural training that taught him to treat geometry as a manufacturing instruction. He holds an M.Arch from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and builds computational pipelines in Grasshopper, C#, and .NET that carry ideas from sketch to validated part at production scale. The breadth across cosmetics, medical, luxury, and industrial — and the architecture and academic projects that preceded them — reflects one conviction: that designing the product and designing the process that makes it are the same act.

Computational Design for Manufacturing

Builds toolchains in Grasshopper, C#, and .NET that translate design intent directly into machine-ready geometry.

Product Innovation

Designs first-of-kind objects across beauty, medical, and luxury manufacturing, with eight granted and pending patents covering geometries, materials, and processes

Process Development

Root-cause analysis and yield engineering that carry a design from prototype geometry to commercial production volume.
